How Long Submissions Take to be Approved

December 6, 2009
By Anonymous

It seems that when you submit something, it takes weeks, perhaps even months for it to be approved. Everything is always published on the website, is it not? Has anyone ever received a letter saying your article was not approved and will never will be? I don't think so. Why not just post everything up right away so we no longer have to wait and wait to see our work up online.

Well, I suppose I agree with Aspiringauthor. I am proud of my work and believe that it is my absolute best. However, if someone thinks that their own piece is their absolute best, then they have only their opinion. To me, it is other's opinions that determine if you're a good writer or not.

It took nine months to actually get published, but they sent the e-mail that told a few days before they sent out the mag. A few days before they posted the new picture on Teen Ink. com

A few days? Are we the most impatient nation in the world or what? At least you have a place for possible publication. Most places and contests are for adults only. Get appreciative! geez

Well, sorry, I take people at what they say.

And for me, it only takes a few days. Everyone acts like it takes months, but that's only very rarely.

To mikey2.0:

Does it really matter that much that you have to write a multi-paragraph reply about it? The whole thing was said and done. Personally, I think it was a lot better than if shehadwrittenitalllikethis.

It took me over a month for all of my articles. And for my novel, surprisingly, it only took a week. It's really kind of odd. But karstarr13, I hear you. It's very aggravating. And to TheJust, posting is obviously what she meant.

Why would you post something if it wasn't your absolute best? You wouldn't want to be embarrassed. And that's what TeenInk assumes. And, to be frank, they are assuming correctly. I don't know anyone who would put a bad piece of writing on the Internet for all to see, even if it is anonymous.

Um, it's "writing"...

Seriously? It's a website...it's basically a blog. The magazine doesn't take just anything, that's where the real competition happens.

And I think it's ironic that you're commenting about how Teen Ink needs to be stricter on how well things are written on one of the most poorly written articles on here.

They don't publish everything, just post it. There is a big difference. The website is like a blog, the magazine is the real deal.

I agree with karstarr13. I mean, my work doesn't take too long to be put on the site, maybe 1-2 weeks, but I agree that entries should be carefully looked over to make sure they're not substandard.

it took me SO long for my stuff to get on here! it was so aggrivating. And.. i mean, they pretty much take everything, which makes this not competetive at all. I think they should pick and choose what they publish.... but, thats just me LOL

Sorry, I didn't mean to call you rude. Just a little... frank? Sorry!!!

Then if you're in "Accelerated English" then shouldn't you not have trouble with your spelling? Really people, I'm sorry if I sound rude, but if you all are so great at English and spelling and what-not, shouldn't it be your responsibility to make sure your stories are written properly? Especially when Word document and Open Office Writer all have word check and will tell you if your sentences are not correct.

No one has an excuse and no one should blame Teen Ink for something that is their own responsibility not the websites. I think that was thisisme's point.

P.S And "purposely being sloppy"? Really? We can't even take the effort to write two sentences correctly? Come on people.

I so totally agree!!! I've been waiting forever. At first I was scared maybe it wasn't good enough to get published but I seriously doubt that.
