How Long Submissions Take to be Approved

December 6, 2009
By Anonymous

It seems that when you submit something, it takes weeks, perhaps even months for it to be approved. Everything is always published on the website, is it not? Has anyone ever received a letter saying your article was not approved and will never will be? I don't think so. Why not just post everything up right away so we no longer have to wait and wait to see our work up online.

Really? That's interesting. What genre is your piece? The day that I signed up for TeenInk (about two weeks ago), I submitted something. I was published three days ago.

Two to three weeks is fine with me, but I've been waiting months to get my pieces approved. . . :/

From experience of being editor-in-chief of a literary magazine, reading each submission and deciding if it is publishing worthy takes a lot more time than most people realize. I don't think that it's unreasonable to wait for two to three weeks to hear back from TeenInk. I'm sure that they receive hundreds of submissons every day and that the staff is doing their best to update TeenkInk daily.

Thanks. True poetry would take longer to go through because it is quite complex. Thanks.

I agree with you both. They are responsible for it. But there are some rather obscure things on here, which aren't even written in proper english.

Perhaps it's because poetry is more abstract and people could hide innuendos within it easier? Good question!

Personally, I think we need a larger review staff. The submissions should still be reviewed. Did anyone ever think about this: If there is an edit article button couldn't people sumbit a G rated work and then "edit" it to be something offensive or inappropriate? In a perfect world, it would be used for the right thing but there are real creeps out there who would use it in a destructful manner.

This is certainly one of my favorites: "I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes." -2 Samuel 6:22

The 'big deal' is that this site is for posting literature. True literature. If you want to talk trash there are many other places to do so.

When the dreams that you dream seems to disappear from view, that's the time to fight on and soon they'll all come through.

I agree that it takes way too long(I waited for about a month to get my article approve). But, hey, there's the pros too of having an article go through this system. This is a good way to keep articles with inappropriate content out of Teen Ink. Personally, I feel that this is a necessary thing. We have kids accessing this site and it would be good for them to read inappropriate content. Maybe Teen Ink could get more trusted people to help out in the approving process? The long wait gives us an impression that they're trying to 'cope' with the hundreds of articles submitted.

If articles are not reviewed.. abusive terms and topics might easily find their way onto this site.. so to avoid that.. articles need to be reviewed.. and when thousands of ppl submit articles everyday it aint easy to employ as many ppl.. so I guess there is no other way out..
